The Lopez Island Family Resource Center is looking for caring, energetic people to join our summer camp team. Whether you’re a seasoned camp leader or high schooler interested in working with youth to create fun summer experiences for campers, we’d love to hear from you! Instructors for Camp Huckleberry
Do you enjoy working in a team to engage young kiddos? Camp Huckleberry is a magical day camp for K-4th grade explorers. As an instructor, you’ll facilitate summer camp activities, such as arts and crafts and STEM activities, board games, active outdoor time/sports, and community-building activities such as opening and reflection circles.
- Wage: $25.50 per hour
- Temporary position with 40 hours per week: July 7-August 15. Team training and camp set-up during the week of June 30-July 3 (up to 12 hours)
- General program hours: Monday-Friday 8:15 AM-4:45 PM
- Benefits: Accrual of paid sick time

Lead Instructor for Camp BuildAbility
Enrich the lives of Lopez youth as Lead Instructor for our “Camp BuildAbility” for neurodivergent and/or disabled youth in grades K-8 offering a nurturing and inclusive environment where creativity knows no bounds and every child can thrive.
- Wage: $27 per hour
- Temporary position with up to 30 hours per week: July 7-August 15 Team training and camp set-up during the week of June 30-July 3 (up to 12 hours)
- General program hours: 9:45 AM-2:15 PM plus up to 40 hours starting in June to plan lessons and team training sessions
- Benefits: Accrual of paid sick time

Assistant Instructors for Camp Huckleberry & Camp BuildAbility
These are paid positions for High Schoolers (entering 10th graders-12th graders) who enjoy working with youth in grades K-8 and want to gain leadership experience during the summer.
- Camp Huckleberry is a traditional summer day camp for youth in K-4th grade in its 4th year of existence.
- Camp BuildAbility is a summer day camp created for neurodivergent and/or disabled youth in grades K-8 offering a nurturing and inclusive environment where creativity knows no bounds and every child can thrive.
- Wage: $20 per hour
- Temporary full-time (40 hours per week) or part-time (25 hours per week) positions: July 7 August 15 - Team training and camp set-up during the week of June 30-July 3 (up to 12 hours)
- General program hours: Monday-Friday 8:15 AM-4:45 PM (full-time) or 9:45 AM-2:15 PM (part time)

Assistant Instructor(s) for Preschool Summer Camps
These are paid positions for High Schoolers (entering 10th graders-12th graders)
who enjoy working with preschool aged youth (3.5 – 5) and want to gain
leadership experience during the summer.
- Wage: $20 per hour
- Temporary part-time (hours vary per camp) positions: June 24 – June 26, Tuesday-Thursday, 8:30AM – 1:00PM (13.5 hours + up to 2 hours training) AND/OR July 2 – 3, Wednesday-Thursday, 8:30AM – 1:30PM (10 hours + up to 2 hours training)
- In-service position with 100% on-site.

Read-a-Rama Reader(s) for Summer Camp “Huckleberry”
We are seeking Read-a-Rama Readers for Camp Huckleberry – our fun and enriching traditional summer day camp for youth in K-4th grade. “Read-a-Rama was founded in 2009 and is a research-based program to immerse children in books, starting with a theme grounded inbooks, then springboarding into music, crafts, and science activities.
- Wage: $25.50 per hour
- Temporary Position: July 7-August 15; 5 hours per week. Training and planning TBD in June, plus July 7th from 9AM to 12PM, up to 20 hours
- General program hours: Tuesday-Thursday 8:45 AM - 10:30AM In-service position with 100% on-site.
