High School Leaders: Youth Health Advocates & Orgullo Latino
High School Leaders are responsible for the coordination, peer leadership and promotion of Lopez Youth Health Advocates and/or Orgullo Latino. The two positions will work in tandem to support both programs and will facilitate collaboration between the programs when appropriate. High School Leaders will complete assignments in a timely manner on required tasks, self-assigned tasks or tasks assigned by the Youth Prevention Manager.
Qualifications
- High Schooler at Lopez Island High School or Lopez Island resident who is in High School in San Juan County
- Ability to demonstrate progressive leadership development
- 1-3 years experience working with Youth Health Advocates and/or Orgullo Latino
- Bilingual Spanish/English or ability to co-coordinate bilingual meetings
Skills
- Able to prioritize and organize activities.
- Careful attention to paperwork and other details to assure accuracy and consistency
- Able to work under pressure with multiple priorities demanding time and attention.
- Knowledge & commitment to principles of confidentiality
- Strong computer skills including knowledge of MS Office software
- Committed to the LIFRC mission, vision and values listed on the next page
- Able to work effectively with a team; be a strong team player
- Able to effectively communicate and build/maintain relationships
