According to an 80 year study by Harvard University, “the best predictor of your mental health is your current “relational health.”
In other words, health and happiness go hand in hand with how connected we feel, both to ourselves and to the world around us, to our community.
That is the bedrock for which Heart & Soul Café is built upon.
Based on the Recovery Café evidence-based model, Heart & Soul Café is an alternative, therapeutic, community of peer-to-peer support founded on the truth that every human being is precious and worthy of love and respect.
Regardless of past or present trauma, illness, mental or emotional anguish, or addictive behaviors, everyone is in recovery from something and has wisdom to share from their experience.
It’s that sharing that weaves the supportive tapestry that sustains healing and health, both personally and on a collective level.
That’s why, starting Friday, November 11th, Heart & Soul Café will begin holding weekly circles of peer support for individuals 18 and older. This will be a chemical-free, non-judgmental space to gather, connect, and simply be. Come enjoy a healthy meal and cultivate a meaningful sense of membership and belonging within the Lopez Island Community.
