Join us November 1 for Lopez Island’s 5th Annual Día de los Muertos celebration!

Some traditions help us remember where we come from. Others give us a way to share that history with the next generation. Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, does both.

A cherished Mexican tradition, Día de los Muertos honors loved ones who have passed away through remembrance, food, music, art, and time spent together. It is a celebration of the lives we carry with us and the stories that keep us connected across generations.

At Lopez Island Family Resource Center, we’re honored to help bring this tradition to our community in partnership with Voices & Visions. Each year, the celebration creates space for families to share their culture, introduce children to meaningful traditions, and invite neighbors to learn, participate, and connect.

Join us for an afternoon filled with color, creativity, and community. Come dressed as a Catrina or Catrín, help create an altar honoring loved ones, take part in hands-on activities, and enjoy mariachi music, student performances, pan de muerto, free hot chocolate, prizes, food for sale, and more.
