Vote YES to Approve the Lopez Rec Levy

Sustain after school and summer programs

Lopez Island is a place where community matters. Sports programs and youth programs help make this island a place where families thrive and young people grow.

112 children and youth attend LIFRC Summer Camps and 47 attend After School Programs. These programs are more than activities. They are where friendships form, confidence grows, young people find belonging, and academics are supported in fun enriching ways.

Voters already approved the formation of the Lopez Island Parks and Recreation District. After listening carefully to community feedback, the District has returned with a revised levy rate of $0.23 per $1,000 of assessed value.

This levy is needed to continue youth sports and academic enrichment programming after school and in the summer when LIFRC’s annual OSPI 21st CCLC grant of $333,000 per year ends in August 2027.

“Our child came home from the after school culinary club incredibly proud of the fresh butter they had made, and loved teaching us the technique during our family dinner. It’s wonderful to see them gaining such tangible skills and confidence.

LIFRC’s after school program and summer camps are filling a crucial gap for us. It offers a safe, inclusive space for our child to learn, play, and foster peer relationships outside of the traditional school setting and sports. This sense of belonging and autonomy our child is finding here is invaluable to our family. We see a big difference in our child because of this program.”

These local dollars stay on Lopez, making Lopez a livable place for working families, including school sports, after-school programs, and summer camps. They provide safe spaces for youth to play, learn, and connect, while strengthening the fabric of our community.

This revised levy reflects both the priorities of our community and a commitment to responsible stewardship of public funds.
