The Lopez Food Share has been growing and transforming. Because of that, there has been some confusion on hours of operation and other details. In order to gain some clarity, we put together a slide deck of important information. Thank you for bearing with us as we grow!

  1. I have been confused (as I think others are) about whether and how it is still possible to donate food to the food share. There is not place at the grocery store to leave donations and it actually isn’t clear that the Food Share wants individual donations of food. That probably makes sense with the shopping model I guess but please explain publicly whether and how the community can support the Food Share. Thank you

    1. Dear Melora,
So sorry for the confusion! We haven’t had the usual drop off location at LVM since 2023, but we are still accepting donations, and they are very much appreciated!

We have a corner at the Food Share designated just for community donations.

If you want to help with donations here is how:
Gather and drop off originally packaged, unopened dry goods, at Lopez Food Share, located at 1108 Dill Road (northwest corner of Lopez Storage). Someone will be there to receive your items Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. If you miss us, please place items on the green shelving to the left of the door label “Food Share Exit”. This door is located on the side of the building with the concrete delivery dock. We’d love to know who donated, so, if we’re not in the office to greet you, please feel free to leave a note with your name.

Donation guidelines: no clothes or household items / no rusty or soiled items / no items more than 2 years expired / no home-canned items / products must be factory sealed, with one exception: dry dog or cat food.

      Hope this information was helpful.
Please reach out to us if you have any further questions at pedro@lifrc.org.
      Thank you,
      Food Share team

  2. Will there be volunteers to help those of us who can’t lift and load heavy bags into our cars? Should we bring bags with us?

Thanks to one and all of you who volunteered during COVID to help us get our groceries and to keep us safe. A stream of thanks goes to those of you we saw in action where all those many bags were neatly arranged in the parking lot, all the rest of you working behind the scenes (Benling, Greg, Elizabeth, etc.) and Pedro who responded to our emails about confusion we encountered occasionally when ordering. What a great team you all are!!!!

    1. Dear Dianna,
Thank you so much for your comment and appreciation. We have a great team of volunteers who are always ready to help. We are very grateful for all they do. And yes, we have volunteers that can help you carry your bags to your car when shopping. We do, however, encourage everyone to bring their own bags.
      Hope to see you soon,
      Food Share team
