Lopez Gleaners

The mission of LIFRC’s gleaning program is pretty simple: share fruit for free.
Fruit trees, shrubs, and vines across the island fill with fruit from August through November, including heritage orchards that have been Lopez residents longer than anyone who lives here today.
It’s the work of the gleaning program to harvest and find homes for all that fruit.

Harvest Seasons

Harvest times change from year to year, however, take a look at the tentative schedule:

  • Cherries: July
  • Plums: July & August Berries: July & August
  • Asian pears: August to October
  • Prune plums: August & September
  • Apples: August to November European pears: September to November
  • Kiwis: Late October to early December
