Program Spotlight: Early Learning Programs
In previous years, we received funding from Prime Time Humanities WA. Unfortunately, funding for those programs was cut this past year. Participating families asked for the program to return, and we’re excited to have found a solution!
Through San Juan County funding, we’ve added elements of Purposeful People, a social-emotional curriculum, to our Parent-Tot program. This curriculum—along with carefully chosen, highly engaging literature and elements of the Prime Time framework—has come together to create another wonderful round of family engagement programming.
We have chosen bilingual Spanish–English books, and bilingual community members will help facilitate rich discussions in participants’ native languages.
These books will spark conversations around humanities themes such as respect, empathy, resilience, creativity, and more. Kiddos and their families will then dive deeper into the stories through hands-on, exploratory activities.
A preschool parent shared this about last year’s program:
“They were processing everything when we went home and couldn’t stop talking about the book and activities. They asked me when we were going back, and when I said it would be next Tuesday, they asked if that was tomorrow.”
Come join us this year and see how much fun reading together can be! These family reading programs help build critical thinking skills and support not only lifelong learners, but lifelong lovers of books.
Each evening, we’ll share a delicious dinner after exploring stories together. Sharing a meal creates warmth and togetherness, setting the stage for meaningful conversation and connection—and ensures families have the nourishment they need to fully engage.
The best part? The program is FREE for all participating families.
