SafeCare is an evidence-based, in-home program for parents of children 5 years old or younger who are interested in honing their parenting skills and ensuring a safe living environment for their children.
SafeCare providers work with families in their home to improve skills in three areas: parent/infant interactions, home safety, and child health care. If the lack material objects are a barrier to the family in meeting these goals the provider can help to supply them.
In addition to the curriculum, the provider can help with wrap around services through the Family Resource Center and, perhaps most importantly, simply be someone who is there to listen and talk to on a weekly basis.
The program is designed to be completed in 18 sessions over the course of a few months. Sessions are scheduled weekly and last about an hour.
