January is National Mentoring Month! If you’ve ever wondered about becoming a mentor, why not now? Mentoring is a wonderful way to become involved in your community, create great memories, and make a difference in the life of a child. The Lopez Island Family Resource Center’s Mentoring Program is looking for mentor volunteers to match with local youth. If you’d like to learn more about the program, there are several ways to do so:
- Click here to visit the mentoring page of our website
- Find our Mentoring Program in the Events section of our Facebook page (photos are also available here)
- Listen to the KLOI interview segment with Mikah Smith and Rachel MacSlarrow, during which they discuss the LIFRC’s mentoring program in detail! The segment is available online in KLOI’s archived programs.
- Check out the recent article about Mentoring Month and the LIFRC’s Mentoring Program in “Stone Soup Stories”, a newsletter from the Lopez Island Prevention Coalition (available online here).
If you have additional questions or you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact Mikah at the school (phone 360-468-2201 ext. 2109, e-mail msmith@lopez.k12.wa.us) or Rachel at the Resource Center (phone 360-468-4117, e-mail lifrc@rockisland.com).
