WORKSHOPS REQUIRING PRE-REGISTRATION:

Classes not meeting minimum enrollments 1 week before class start may be cancelled. Please be considerate to instructors and help assure you and others get the classes wanted by registering early! 

 

Create Brochures, Newsletters, Business Cards and more….

Did you know you can use templates to create your own professional newsletters, brochures, fliers, and forms?  In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to locate and customize for your business or personal use ready-made templates that use Microsoft Word 2010 as a desktop publishing program.  The class consists of three 2-hour sessions.  Students must have a basic familiarity with how to access programs on the computer, create and edit Word files, and use an Internet browser.  Use of a PC laptop with Word 2010 installed is required.  We have several available, or you can bring your own; let us know at time of registration.  A printable PDF of our registration form is available by clicking the link above, and copies are also available at the LIFRC office, Chamber of Commerce, and Lopez Island Library.  Enrollment is limited to 12 students.

Dates: 3-part workshop to take place on Mondays May 7, 14, and 21.

Time: 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Place: Lopez Island Library Meeting Room

Fee: $35 if paid by April 30, $45 if paid after April 30

 

 

Create Your Own Web Site Using Google Sites

This hands-on workshop provides an introduction to using this free  Google tool for developing a web site for your business or personal use.  The class consists of three 2-hour sessions.  Students must have a basic familiarity with internet browser and use of a PC or Mac laptop.  Some laptops are available to borrow — please indicate need on the registration form.  A printable PDF of our registration form is available by clicking the link above, and copies are also available at the LIFRC office, Chamber of Commerce, and Lopez Island Library.   Enrollment limited to 12 students.

Small Business Support

Would you like to run a business question by someone? Need some assistance with an Excel spreadsheet or other business software? Give the Lopez Island Family Resource Center a call and we will try and match your needs with the talents of a community volunteer.

 

Small Business Peer Support Group

Interested in becoming part of a peer support group meeting regularly with a facilitator? The Lopez Island Family Resource Center is looking to start a new group. Call for more info.

 

Technology Lab

The Lopez Island Family Resource Center has a technology lab equipped with PC’s, Mac’s, wireless internet, document scanner and printing and faxing capabilities. Lab is open every Monday thru Friday from 9AM-5PM.

 

Computer One-on-One Sessions for Beginners

The Lopez Island Family Resource Center offers free one –on-one sessions for individuals who would like assistance navigating the web, composing and setting up email, or creating and printing documents. Staff is available to assist you for individual sessions on Thursdays from 12:00PM – 2:00 PM and Fridays from 1:00PM -3:00PM. Drop-in or make an appointment.

 

Drop-In Computer Clinic

The Lopez Island Library offers free basic computer skills classes each Friday morning from 10:00-11:00AM in the library meeting room. Classes tailored around those who attend the class each week.

 

Introduction to Electronic Media

The Lopez Island Library offers a free informal introduction to downloadable audio books and electronic books, articles and music every Saturday from 1:00-2:00PM in the library meeting room or Lou’s office. Touch, feel, and try out Kindles, IPods, MP3 players, and more.
