The LIFRC is dedicated to working with other organizations and community members to host community conversations about important issues, facilitate meetings to address community needs & create systems changes, and implement the Compassionate Schools/Community Philosophy.
Programs included are:
Hosting Community Conversations: A series of 3 events to discuss important issues that included Immigration Reform, Social Justice and America in Transformation.
Addressing Community Needs: Monthly meetings currently focusing on housing, food, economic opportunities, and mental health with organizations and community members. Each group is tackling solutions to address important needs in the community.
Compassionate Schools/Communities: Working with OSPI to bring together school staff, organizations and community members to embrace a philosophy of listening to individuals stories and supporting each other. In September 2016, we will show the movie “Paper Tigers” followed by a discussion and then a training in October 2016 to identify action steps we can all take together to create a positive and supporting learning environment and community.
